Where the Rain is Born by Anita Nair

I came across this book a long time ago when I was in college. I loved it so much that I used to carry it around a lot.
It is a collection of works of famous authors like Balachandran Chullikad, Alexander Frater,Shashi Tharoor,V.K. Madhavankutti, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, William Dalrymple, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer, Ammu Joseh, O.V. Vijayan, Pankaj Mishra,C.V. Raman Pillai, Jeet Thayil, Jayanth Kodkani,M.T. Vasudevan Nair,Suresh Menon,Ayyappa Panikker, Salman Rushdie, Lalithambika Antharjanam, Paul Zacharia, Ravi Menon, M. Mukundan, Arundhathi Roy,
Jaishree Mishra,Vijay nambeesan,Ramachandra Guha,David Davidar,Geeta Doctor,C.P. Surendran, Kamala Das,Bill Aitken,Shashi Warrier,Shreekumar Varma and Anita Nair.

You can find parts of famous novels or poems or short stories in this book. The theme in every chapter is the ‘Rain in Kerala’. The beautiful… so beautiful rain in Kerala.
I was keeping this post in the ‘draft’ for some time because I wanted to post it when it is raining outside.
Today the rain started in the morning. It was fun to walk on the rain-soaked streets. I usually go by a Volvo bus to office. It was beautiful to watch the rain through the glass windows of the bus. I took some photos with my mobile phone camera. But it is not that clear.
The rain is celebrating life. The new grass blades which rejoices in the falling rain also is celebrating life. And we are celebrating rain here. The Monsoon which comes as a boon has lost some of its beauty over the years. But it still keeps our imagination alive and forces us to move on… live and celebrate…
Try reading this book... and enjoy the rains….

Back home...

Well it is always true that you will understand the true value of your home land only when you miss it.

It is absolutely true.
As I was traveling back from Chennai to Kerala, I was greeted with such breath taking greenery. The journey usually takes 16hrs by bus. The bus starts around 6.30 PM from Chennai. What I love most about this journey is that, after the sleep, when I open my eyes, I usually see Palakkad, a beautiful place in Kerala which is some distance from my home district. This time there was slight rain and the green green landscape was simply amazing. The relief I felt at that moment was huge. No more barren landscapes of Chennai. I am home... my beautiful home....

These are some of the photographs I took of Palakkad. These were taken through the fogged glass windows of the bus and does no justice to the true beauty of the place...

A Quick Pouch

I have been working on this pouch when I was in Chennai.
I had found this rare colored wool sometime back but I couldn't capture the real color with the camera.

Working on Yellow Flowers

After a long time....

Well, its a long time since I posted something. I was away for sometime.
Chennai in May is not a beautiful place to live in. I was in Chennai for a whole month in the scorching Sun. The harsh weather killed whatever interest I had in writing the blog. So I decided to stay away for sometime till my good mood returns.
Now I am back home and enjoying the rains...
So you can again expects some posts from me...

I was not idle during the time. Completed a cross-stitch Owl which I will be posting soon. Then some wool stuff is also coming up... See you soon...

Then one more good news is there... A bookshop opened in our office campus. DC books- my favorite- is just a simple walk away now. Bought three more books- 'Where the rain is born' by Anita Nair, 'Neermathalam Poothapol' by Madhavikutti and 'Aanakathakal' by Kottarathil Shankunni. The first book is about rain in Kerala which I have already read from library which is a very beautiful book. I will be posting about these books also....soon....
