Art in the rain...

I was supposed to write about this earlier. I finally painted the chimes I bought from Bangalore. Usually people give a single color (black, mud or copper) to the chimes. I decided to do something different and ended with these. Anyway at least the ivy seems to like it and growing around it :-)

Where the Rain is Born by Anita Nair

I came across this book a long time ago when I was in college. I loved it so much that I used to carry it around a lot.
It is a collection of works of famous authors like Balachandran Chullikad, Alexander Frater,Shashi Tharoor,V.K. Madhavankutti, Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, William Dalrymple, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer, Ammu Joseh, O.V. Vijayan, Pankaj Mishra,C.V. Raman Pillai, Jeet Thayil, Jayanth Kodkani,M.T. Vasudevan Nair,Suresh Menon,Ayyappa Panikker, Salman Rushdie, Lalithambika Antharjanam, Paul Zacharia, Ravi Menon, M. Mukundan, Arundhathi Roy,
Jaishree Mishra,Vijay nambeesan,Ramachandra Guha,David Davidar,Geeta Doctor,C.P. Surendran, Kamala Das,Bill Aitken,Shashi Warrier,Shreekumar Varma and Anita Nair.

You can find parts of famous novels or poems or short stories in this book. The theme in every chapter is the ‘Rain in Kerala’. The beautiful… so beautiful rain in Kerala.
I was keeping this post in the ‘draft’ for some time because I wanted to post it when it is raining outside.
Today the rain started in the morning. It was fun to walk on the rain-soaked streets. I usually go by a Volvo bus to office. It was beautiful to watch the rain through the glass windows of the bus. I took some photos with my mobile phone camera. But it is not that clear.
The rain is celebrating life. The new grass blades which rejoices in the falling rain also is celebrating life. And we are celebrating rain here. The Monsoon which comes as a boon has lost some of its beauty over the years. But it still keeps our imagination alive and forces us to move on… live and celebrate…
Try reading this book... and enjoy the rains….

Summer Showers Again.....

Hi Friends,

I have been partially busy and partially not well during this weekend. So not that much sewing or crafting or painting were done for a few days. but got some more amazing summer showers...

Here are some photos of 'before the rain' and 'after the rain'....

Before the rain

After the rain...

Well, I couldn't capture the beauty of the showers while it was raining. But the special feeling which comes with the rain cannot be explained with a these pictures.... So till I get a better picture( till I learn to take a better picture), the rain remains only for the eyes of the beholder....

Rain Soaked…

Today, the morning was filled with the aroma of the fresh Earth after the rain (Mazha).
The rain started yesterday night accompanied by lightning and thunder and continued till this morning.

Oh God… what a feeling it was!! The rain soaked world!!!

Every single time it rains, it keeps us in awe…

Rain is like a much loved person. Even after the rain there will be some sign of it around us…
Wrapping us up in its cool embrace, reassuring us… loving us…

There are so many poems, stories and articles which associate the rain with love. It really seem that rain is representing love. Love between the Earth and the Sky. The Sky is showering love on Earth and the Earth is flourishing with life after the rain.

Rain banishes our feelings of being alone in the world. It gives you HOPE that everything is not over. There are some more things in life you have to see… so go on living… It whispers in your ears, ‘I am with you… So don’t stop your journey…’

Now don’t call me a ‘romantic’. Is there anyone who won’t look through the window when it rains? Is there anyone who is not mesmerized by the beauty of this wonderful shower from the heavens?

The wind and the rain drops gently touch your face and remind you that you are human… and give you hope to stay alive… to watch another rain…

Summer Rains...

Well we were having a Topsy turvy weather here in Kochi for the last few days. The heat is unbearable. And there were light rains in the evenings.
On Sunday we had a cloudy sky and there was a promise of rain but a sudden wind had blown the clouds away.
Yesterday evening, there was heavy rain all over our part. The heavens were simple pouring accompanied by lightning and thunder. It was MARVELOUS...
