Happy Independence Day...

Dear All,

Wish you all a very happy Independence Day!!!

I was thinking some time back about how different each of our states are in India. Very different in language, culture, food, beliefs.... So much variety of people, animals, terrain, plants.... If you travel in any direction some 300 KM, the language changes, the food changes... How very unique!

 I am proud to be an Indian. I am proud of my very vibrant country! Mera Bharath Mahan!

The Books have finally arrived. Six books by Sudha Murty. Most of the books are for children. But it is fun to read all her books. 

Learning Crochet...

I was fascinated about crochet even since I saw Lucy's blog- Attic24. Wonderful things she have created with wool. Beautiful crochet! Whenever I open her blog, I feel so happy! :-). So I started learning crochet last month. Slowly started by viewing videos because I was confused by written instructions. My first creations were pathetic. But I didn't stop. At last! Last week I created a three layer flower! I was so joyous. Then I created one more which was better than the previous. Then I went on creating 2-3 flowers in different shades. I was HAPPY!!! I really felt that I accomplished something.

Two wonderful books by Sudha Murthy...

Dear All,

I completed two more wonderful books by Sudha Murthy... 'Old Man and His God' and 'Wise and Otherwise'... Such a great heart she has! I can't even find words to describe what I felt while I was reading those books. So simple but powerful messages from each of her story... 

One day I was on the way from office to home. I was reading 'Old Man and His God' in the bus. I was so struck by one story I forgot where I was. Tears began to blur my vision and I looked out the window. I began to wonder about my life.... How much luxury is around us. Still are we giving something back to the society? How many poor children are there around us? Are we even paying attention to them? Are we blocking them out of our vision? Have we become so heartless to walk away from those helpless children who does not have any other option but to beg for food?

Today is 1st August. The first day of a month. We should be asking a lot of questions to ourselves...

Weekend Updates...

Each weekend is flying past so fast...

This weekend, I learning to use Kumihimo Disk... I made one out of card board paper. and experimented with some seed beeds and thread. It was wonderful! Thanks to Allison's  'Dream A Little Bigger' blog.

I will share the pictures of my creation soon. I am still having problem uploading pictures with my internet connection. So Once it is fixed (or after taking a new connection), I will share all the pictures. Some of the pictures I have included in few of my last posts were also not visible. So I guess I have to upload them again.

I had some stitching to do for my mother also. My sewing machine is working fine now. So I didn't have any problem sewing this time. 

Then I started experimenting with crochet around a shawl. I think, when finished,it will look good. If it is not I will not be posting a picture of the same here :-) 

I have another trip scheduled for this month end by 25th to Vizag. Again going back to the port city...
